Bullet-Proof Software (株式会社ビーピーエス Kabushikigaisha Bī Pī Esu) was a Japanese game developer and publisher. Despite the developer being in Japan, the company was founded by Dutch-Indonesian developer Henk B. Rogers. The company is probably best known for bringing the Tetris series to the United States. In addition, the company created The Black Onyx, a computer RPG that was widely influential in its native Japan. So influential that it helped spawn series by other companies such as Hydlide and The Tower of Druaga.

In 1996, Rogers created Blue Planet Software, which acquired BPS. In March 2003, BPS was dissolved.

Music Development

NES

Goblin Sound was hired to compose music for BPS's in-house games. They used a sound driver by Kazuya Takahashi.

SNES

BPS used their own custom sound driver, most likely written by Takahisa Kabasawa, credited for sound programming on some of the company's computer titles.

Many of the games that use the BPS Logo jingle use their custom driver for that jingle alone, whilst using another driver for the rest of the game. However, Taikyoku Igo: Goliath (SFC) uses the BPS driver for all music and sound effects. This game gives credit to Kabasawa.

Later, they started using their own variant of the Opus SQ & DBOOT sound driver.
