Asei Kobayashi was a Japanese composer. He wrote for all types of media including film, television, and even video games from time to time. He was also the director of the Japan Songwriters Association. In addition, he also served as the President of the Dai Nihon Piman-sha Renmei.
While Kobayashi was not a video game music composer, his music was used in many games. In particular, his song Turn A Turn has been used in quite a few video games. However, the exception to this was for the Famicom RPG Niji no Silkroad, in which Kobayashi was hired to compose the game's soundtrack. Because of this, Kobayashi is still counted on this site as a video game music composer.
On May 30, 2021, Kobayashi passed away from heart failure.

Kobayashi most likely wrote his music on a piano, and copied it down to sheet music. The music was then arranged by Ryoko Kihara to compensate for the limited polyphony offered by the Famicom's sound hardware, the 2A03. These arrangements (presumably also written as sheet music) were handed to Advance Communication Company's sound team to implement into their sound driver. His music for the game was featured in a soundtrack CD, Niji no Silkroad Image Album: Windy Road.
