- Not to be confused with the CPC game without music.
Aliens is an early first-person shooter, featuring characters of a movie released a few months earlier. It also has strategic elements, if far less than Alien (CPC).
Mankind has colonized a distant planet. After all contact is lost, a crew of six equals goes to investigate, only to find the base inhabitated by savage aliens. Your goal becomes to rid room 248 of alien life. At any time, you can choose to control an individual crew member directly, or order them to move a number of rooms automatically. The aliens meanwhile stroll around, filling rooms with bio-mechanical growth that spawns eggs and disturbs the light generators.
Most releases came with a map. Many gamers could not figure what to do, but still praised the scary atmosphere.
It is hard to say if Aliens (ZXS) was developed first.

Music
The CPC version is the only one with in-game music.
The credits in Aliens are rather ambiguous. Considering credits in other games, Pennsoft most likely programmed the actual game and the sound effects for the proximity meter, the warning, and Newt, while Soft Machine most likely composed the music and the shot sound effect. Both songs were arranged in The Music Box, which itself was created by a member of Soft Machine: Mark Alexander.
Recording
Both songs were recorded from the game in WinAPE Version 2.0 Beta 2. Each was played twice plus 10 seconds.
The VGMPF does not know any official titles and named the songs after their usages.

This game uses the computer's built-in AY-3-8912 chip.
Releases
The original disk release cannot be beaten because half of the rooms are broken. Most other releases have a few corrupt graphics, and most compilations do not have credits.
