After Burner Complete in Japanese (アフターバーナー・コンプリート - Afutābānā konpurīto), known simply as After Burner in North America, is a port of the version of the second title, After Burner II which this version adds new changes , was developed by Rutubo Games and distributed by Sega Corp. on the Genesis add-on, the 32X in 1994 in various regions.
After Burner Complete is a 2.5 version of the arcade flight simulator developed for the 32X. It was developed as an improved adaptation for the Genesis accessory, which at the time had other versions for other systems.
It resulted in the most faithful version of the arcade that appeared in its time, although with the time better versions appeared, but that is something logical. It is an excellent flight simulation arcade and a classic in the world of video games.
This port is very good at a technical level and very well done by Sega AM2 (again) commanded by the guru of Sega: Yu Suzuki who was the director of the developer of the game, Rutubo Games was that in its development was in full swing in Sega Saturn, its graphics were very similar to the original arcade for the time, the level of sprits is very achieved, the sound effects were improved, has the same essence of the game and adapted to the console as much as possible.
As it is repeated, there are many titles that were good but the peripheral is bad in fame, but this does not mean that it is bad, on the contrary it received good reviews from magazines and specialists in video games.
This game squeezed the 32X to the maximum of what it offered level of sprites in 2D, an excellent work was done by Sega AM2 those of the Palm Tree, that group was the strongest of Sega creating mythical sagas and as it was the new saga of After Burner, The Virtua games that were in 3D polygonal in its first generation.
“
Super After Burner was the name given to it during most of its development. After Burner Complete received varying amounts of positive and negative press, as did the 32X version of After Burner Complete. It was perceived as a simple port of an outdated arcade game that offered little improvement over the Sega Mega Drive version of After Burner II (released in 1990).
Rutubo Games was the developer of this version and
Space Harrier on the same hardware.

Again, Hiroshi Kawaguchi and Mr. Yu Suzuki were the original composers of the music provided solely to Rutubo Games for a very light development for them, but the programmers seem to forget to give them credit at the end of development.
The music did a good job of pushing the game to the limit unsuccessfully, though it doesn't quite reach the level of the arcade version and has some glitches.
Because the 32X offered better sound quality, the music is similar to the Arcade but was more modified.
It only included 8 tracks for the game itself, but made an almost exact adaptation to what makes the game a wild shooter.
This version is very faithful to the version seen in arcade although it was never used as a base for other ports, the strange thing is that the code of this version is very different to that seen in the arcade, it was decided that the music would be the same that had been interpreted in the original hardware, but would use the PCM format with more channels although below is a rip in VGZ version to be readable by the foobar2000 player with the Game Audio Encoder.
