Platform: Xbox
Year: 2005
Developer: GlyphX Games

Advent Rising is an action-adventure third-person shooter video game developed by GlyphX Games and published by Majesco Entertainment in 2005. Its story was created by The Mustard Brothers and featured a script written by science fiction writers Orson Scott Card and Cameron Dayton.

In Advent Rising, you play as Gideon Wyeth, a rookie space pilot. Gideon has a loving fiancée and life smiles. That is, until mysterious aliens appear. Gideon and his brother, a hero space pilot, are invited to the historical greeting party. Though the aliens are friendly, they come with a warning about another, vicious race, known as "the Seekers", who have decided to exterminate the human race. Soon after, the Seekers invasion begins, and so does the actual game.

While Advent Rising is mainly a third person shooter, Gideon will have the chance to control the Scythe ATV, turrets and various alien ships. The game has four levels of difficulty (easy, normal, hard and ultra), and uses a checkpoint-based saving system.

Music

The entire soundtrack is composed by British composer Michael Richard Plowman, known for his music from first Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell game. Although it's a sci-fi game, Plowman has written several tunes ranging from dramatic to epic, and he's done a great job. The movie composers Charlotte McMillan, Emmanuel Fratianni and Laurie Robinson were also invited to write the soundtrack, and also the song writer Charlotte Martin, who wrote the song "Greater Lights" specifically for this game.

As for Tommy Tallarico, he was the producer of this soundtrack rather than the composer. And this is one of his shameful mentions to his copywriting. Instead of writing at least a few songs, as is the case with games such as Wild 9, R/C Stunt Copter and Sonic and the Black Knight, he reused melodies from other games with his participation, attributing authorship to himself. Especially the track "Stolen Transport", which is actually a slightly reworked boss theme from Time Crisis: Project Titan, written by Todd Dennis, who left Tommy Tallarico Studios around 2002-2003 (before that, the same track was reused in the budget game Fugitive Hunter: War on Terror). Also among the game files were found reused melodies from Color a Dinosaur, written on Tommy T's Play Me Sound Editor, which, fortunately, were not used in the game. This hints at a possible inappropriate prank by Tallarico. Later, Tallarico used the "Muse" track on his personal website on his credits page, and he was sure that it was he who wrote this song.

So, this is considered to be one of the Tommy Tallarico's first shameful lies and contributions.

The track titles and order comes from the official soundtrack.
