Although this version of the song is a very nice arrangement, the SNES version ended up being the only version of the game not to use You've Got a Friend in Me. However, the game's ROM contains an unused version of the song.

It is unknown how Andy or Marten did the music, but Allister Brimble (sound programmer) said that the instruments were both taken from the Kurzweil and programmed on the SNES' sound chip. According to Allister, he isn't sure why the SNES arrangement wasn't actually used in the game.

The Genesis version of the song, while being arranged by the same two arrangers, sounds like a completely different arrangement from the SNES version.

The song plays at the options menu. The original VGM of the song released on Project2612 was broken, but Doommaster1994 has released a fixed version of the VGM.

For a pirated game, the NES version of this song is a decent arrangement.

It is unknown how Yueli produced the music, but he probably wrote MIDI files that were converted to Sachen's sound driver.

The song plays at the title screen and is track 5 in the NSF file.

Lyrics

You've got a friend in me,
you've got a friend in me.
When the road looks rough ahead,
and you're miles and miles from your nice warm bed.
You just remember what your old pal said,
boy you've got a friend in me yeah you've got a friend in me.

You've got a friend in me,
you've got a friend in me.
You've got troubles I've got 'em too,
there isn't anything I wouldn't do for you.
We stick together we can see it through,
'cause you've got a friend in me you've got a friend in me.

Some other folks may be a little bit smarter than I am,
bigger and stronger too maybe.
But none of them will ever love you the way I do,
it's me and you boy.

And as the years go by,
our friendship will never die.
You're gonna see it's our destiny,
you've got a friend in me.
You've got a friend in me,
you've got a friend in me.
