Windows Media Player is the propriety media player that Microsoft bundles with Windows. Despite being one of the oldest media players, and certainly having the most money put into it, it supports very few audio formats.
The follow audio formats can be played with Windows Media Player:
AIFF, AU, CD, MIDI, MP3, WAV, WMA
Plugins
Due to Microsoft's closed-source approach to Windows Media Player, plugins are rare, but a few have been made.
Downloads
You can download the latest version of Windows Media Player from the website windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/windows-media-player.
