Windows 3 is an operating environment developed by Microsoft. It is a stepping block between the command line interface of DOS and the GUI OS of Windows 95. It is also the first widely popular version of Windows. Though Windows is not a game, it did include a now-popular music file called Canyon.mid.

The Media Extensions version of Windows 3, which didn't ship until 1991, included an example MIDI called "Canyon.mid", and every subsequent version of Windows 3 also included the file. Due to the lack of standards among sound cards at the time, the Windows 3 soundtrack has been recorded using both General MIDI and AdLib sequencers. The MIDI recording is track 101, the AdLib recording is track 201.

While Windows 3 can play music through a Sound Blaster card, music configuration only allows you to adjust the sequencer. So, if you had a Sound Blaster card, you could use AdLib or General MIDI, but you couldn't specifically choose your Sound Blaster. To adjust which sequencer to use, open the Main program group, and run Control Panel. Then, open MIDI Mapper and you'll be able to adjust which device Windows 3 will send its MIDI commands.
