The Media Extensions version of ''Windows 3'', which didn't ship until 1991, included an example MIDI called "Canyon.mid", and every subsequent version of Windows 3 also included the file. Due to the lack of standards among sound cards at the time, the Windows 3 soundtrack has been recorded using both MIDI and AdLib sequencers.

This rip includes the MIDI files, as well as all of the default WAV files used by ''Windows''. Music and sounds were ripped from the default ''Windows'' directory, some additional music was ripped from ''MWindows\MMData'' directory.

There are converted MIDI files in the root of archive, since MIDI channels 13-16 are used for "Basic" playback mode in Windows 3 and are not supported by modern players. The original files are also included.

While Windows 3 can play music through a Sound Blaster card, music configuration only allows you to adjust the sequencer. So, if you had a Sound Blaster card, you could use AdLib or General MIDI, but you couldn't specifically choose your Sound Blaster. To adjust which sequencer to use, open the Main program group, and run Control Panel. Then, open MIDI Mapper and you'll be able to adjust which device Windows 3 will send its MIDI commands.

Windows 3 is an operating environment developed by Microsoft. It is a stepping block between the command line interface of DOS and the GUI OS of Windows 95. Music

The Media Extensions version of Windows 3, which didn't ship until 1991, included example MIDI files from Passport Designs. Due to the lack of standards among sound cards at the time, the Windows 3 soundtrack has been recorded using popular devices at the moment.

Recording

The Roland SCC-1 recording was made using BASSMIDI with SCC-1 SoundFont, the Voyetra Super SAPI FM OPL3 and Creative Sound Blaster 16 recordings were made using DOSBox SVN Daum with OPL3 emulation.

The Roland SCC-1 recording starts with a 1, the Voyetra Super SAPI FM recording starts with a 2, and the Sound Blaster 16 with 3.

(Info)

This rip includes the MIDI files, as well as all of the default WAV files used by Windows. Music and sounds were ripped from the default Windows directory, some additional music was ripped from MWindows\MMData directory.

There are converted MIDI files in the root of archive, since MIDI channels 13-16 are used for "Basic" playback mode in Windows 3 and are not supported by modern players. The original files are also included.

Audio Devices

Like all Windows operating systems that would come after it, Windows 3 would support any sound card with a compatible driver. And MIDI music was altered through the sequencer. To adjust which sequencer to use, open the Main program group, and run Control Panel. Then, open MIDI Mapper and you'll be able to adjust which device Windows 3 will send its MIDI commands.

There are some device drivers which are included within the system:
