Hello, Andrew! And welcome to the VGMPF!

I've added a new page called Editor's Favorite Songs. This will list the favorite songs for just the editors of this site so we can gauge the overall opinion of the community. Each editor is encouraged to vote for up to five songs per platform as their favorite. If you want to vote for an existing song, add your vote to the total, then add your user name to the comment in the edit code so we can keep track; for example:

I will correct your mistakes depending on my possibilities.

Hi, Andre. Just thought I'd let you know I forgot to add "Into the Dungeons" when I first uploaded the VGMs. If you redownload the pack now, it should have it.<br>

Hi, Andre. I never really liked Audio Overload since it was a little glitchy for me. I am using in_vgm through Winamp since it is the best known VGM player. --Doommaster1994 (talk) 01:48, 7 January 2015 (MST)

I like your Wolfenstein series page, it is more apt than the existing Wolfenstein 3D series page. I don't think they both need to exist, so I'm going to delete the old Wolfenstrin 3D page, but first, I noticed that a lot of the existing Wolfenstein game pages link to the Wolfenstein 3D series page. Before I delete the old one, could you change these to point to your new Wolfenstein series page? Thanks! --TheAlmightyGuru (talk) 12:25, 9 January 2015 (MST)

Hi! I would like to request a deletion of the José Rafael Cordero Sánchez article and its picture. José Rafael is a long term vandal that has published his autobiography everywhere he could have since 2011, wasting many volunteers' time. In this wiki, he has done the same in a promotion attempt. For more info, see the discussion in Wikipedia. --Jamez42 (talk) 17:58, 14 June 2018 (EDT)

Why are you adding the songs from Wolf 3D into the Unused category? --TheAlmightyGuru (talk) 21:20, 23 July 2018 (EDT)

Recording the game music as General MIDI will sound wrong due to custom instruments, the good idea is to record the music as played by the game itself.
+
: GBA port + End of Level from SNES. In fact, some Genesis and Voxelstein 3D music also. Is it a case I should mark them as unused? --M1911 (talk) 23:57, 23 July 2018 (EDT)
<hr>

:: If the song is included, but never played, in a commercially published port, it should be in the Unused category. So, yes for the unused songs in the Game Boy Advance port. But not for the self-published ports (Genesis, Atari, etc.) or fan games like Voxelstein. If we started taking every homebrew project seriously, all our categories would fill up with pages of minor significance. So, when you get a chance, please remove the tag for those songs not in a commercially published game. -- binarymaster (talk) 06:14, 1 February 2015 (MST)

--M1911 (talk) 06:16, 1 February 2015 (MST)

-- binarymaster (talk) 06:33, 1 February 2015 (MST)

--M1911 (talk) 06:38, 1 February 2015 (MST)

-- binarymaster (talk) 06:58, 1 February 2015 (MST)

I noticed the inclusion of a CD track in the Games list for this song. Please note that official game soundtracks are not allowed in the VGMPF per the music submission rules. We encourage you to write about the various official soundtrack albums the song can be found on, but they must be included in the Editing_Rules:_Songs#Albums section. You can also add the album to its own Album page. --TheAlmightyGuru (talk) 09:46, 26 February 2015 (MST)

Ultima Patches
For the Exodus Project Ultima patches that give music to Ultimas 2-5 for DOS, I think it's confusing to list the DOS games under their original titles and with their 1980s release dates. Instead, we should create separate pages for the patched games based on the release dates of the patches in their History.txt files. Something like Ultima V: Warriors of Destiny - Exodus Project (DOS) with a release date of 2001-08-21. --TheAlmightyGuru (talk) 14:12, 31 March 2015 (MDT)

: Much better! --TheAlmightyGuru (talk) 12:21, 6 April 2015 (MDT)

Test Songs
I noticed you added the test songs from some of the converter software, like in the song page for Salute. Since these songs are just rips taken from existing games, there is no need to include them. Software (players/editors/converters) should only have a game page if they contain unique music, (for example, Creative Music System (DOS)) otherwise we'd have tons of duplicated songs. --TheAlmightyGuru (talk) 12:21, 6 April 2015 (MDT)

Downloading Games
I noticed with DX-Ball (W32) and Voxelstein 3D (W32) that you uploaded the full game to the Wiki. I wish we could include a downloadable version of every free game that's covered on this site, but I just can't afford the server space to have both a music site and a game download site. Thankfully, there are plenty of great online game repositories that we can link to. So please, rather than upload the games to the VGMPF, use the "Download" parameter in the Game Template and include a link to a site where visitors can download the game. See 4Four (W32) as an example of how this works. --TheAlmightyGuru (talk) 08:54, 8 April 2015 (MDT)

Revision as of 13:38, 2 January 2019

Favorites

I've added a new page called Editor's Favorite Songs. This will list the favorite songs for just the editors of this site so we can gauge the overall opinion of the community. Each editor is encouraged to vote for up to five songs per platform as their favorite. If you want to vote for an existing song, add your vote to the total, then add your user name to the comment in the edit code so we can keep track; for example:

2 <!-- Users: TheAlmightyGuru, YourNameHere -->

Of course, you're welcome to add a new song to the list too! I hope you'll join us in creating a list of favorites for each other and our guests! --TheAlmightyGuru (talk) 10:58, 2 February 2016 (MST)

M Format

Can you verify that the Worlds of Ultima games use MIDI format for music? I've been looking for a program that can extract the data files, but haven't had any luck so far. --TheAlmightyGuru (talk) 14:55, 7 February 2017 (EST)

I also don't know this exactly. I changed the info on the page ony because I saw some time age that binarymaster thinks that it's MIDI and it's not M format. Maybe he know something about it. Sorry if I did something wrong, I'm not good at programming such as un-archieving of the files and don't like to do it all. --M1911 (talk) 05:50, 8 February 2017 (EST)
No worries. I'll make a point of this on the page so that other editors know we're looking for some hard evidence. --TheAlmightyGuru (talk) 10:35, 8 February 2017 (EST)

José Rafael Cordero Sánchez

Unused songs in Wolfenstein 3D

Why are you adding the songs from Wolf 3D into the Unused category? --TheAlmightyGuru (talk) 21:20, 23 July 2018 (EDT)

GBA port + End of Level from SNES. In fact, some Genesis and Voxelstein 3D music also. Is it a case I should mark them as unused? --M1911 (talk) 23:57, 23 July 2018 (EDT)
If the song is included, but never played, in a commercially published port, it should be in the Unused category. So, yes for the unused songs in the Game Boy Advance port. But not for the self-published ports (Genesis, Atari, etc.) or fan games like Voxelstein.
