Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss is an early 3D RPG set in the Ultima universe. You play the Avatar wrongly imprisoned in the Stygian Abyss for kidnapping the king's daughter. In order to get out again, you must brave the depths of the dangerous failed society that fell to pieces underground, find the poor girl, and return to the surface.

The game used a powerful 3D engine for the time, which featured textured walls, slanted walls, floors, and ceilings, and dynamic lighting. All this, and it was released before Wolfenstein 3D!

The music for Ultima Underworld was composed by the legendary "Fat Man", George Sanger and another member of Team Fat, David Govett. Together they put together a very nice soundtrack with foreboding ambiance and powerful combat music. The soundtrack was recorded using a Roland MT-32 synthesizer. The titles are unofficial and based on their game location.

(Info)

The XMI music and VOC sound effects can be found in the .\SOUNDS folder from the root install path. There are two versions of the XMI. The ones with a UW prefix on the file name are for MIDI output (Roland MT-32, LAPC-I, etc.) the ones with an AW prefix are for OPL2 output (AdLib, Sound Blaster, etc.). The rip also contains SysEx data, but it's the default MT-32 SysEx instrument patches.
