The Missing Monarch is the song Rule, Britannia! rearranged in a minor key by Ken Arnold. Lord British's castle theme is the upbeat Rule, Britannia!, however, in the king's absence, the land is in turmoil, and this somber version of the song plays in his stead.

The title comes from the jukebox in the Apple II version.
