Taiko no Tatsujin (太鼓の達人 Master of the Taiko) is a rhythm game developed originally by Namco, now developed and published by Bandai Namco Games. The goal of the game is to hit either the center (ドン) or the rim (カッ). It was originally released as an arcade title, but later released for home consoles, mainly in Japan.
The game's main protagonists are Don Wada (和田どん) and his twin brother Katsu Wada (和田かつ). They are a pair of anthropomorphic taiko drums, brought to life by a tamashii/spirit (魂) entering them. They want to spread the joy of the taiko drum across the world. They reside in the Wada household, hence their surnames. The game features many songs from several genres including J-Pop, Namco originals, classical music, western rock, and video game music.
Most of the series has only been released in Japan, but a few of the games have made it overseas.
