The game's music is very impressive. Each zone has it's own music that is appropriate to the theme of the areas. There are also plenty of fanfares and short tunes to give the game's audio a lot of depth. Sonic the Hedgehog was Sega's competitive answer to Super Mario Bros. (NES). It is a fast-paced action platformer where you play Sonic, a hedgehog, who is trying to stop the evil Dr. Robotnik from enslaving your animal pals. You do this by beating up enemy robots and collecting chaos emeralds. It's a rather exciting game especially when you get hurled at breakneck speeds across the levels.
