There is one earlier version of this particular track available and the final track, making a total of two different revisions.
The first of these was extracted from the pre-release demo version of the game that was released October 9, 1991. Even here it was used as the music for the over world map. Notably it is actually the only music used in this demo since the game levels themselves lacked music. One can clearly hear that the music sounds quite different at this point, even if the resemblance is uncanny.
And the final version was naturally included in the game when the shareware was released on November 22, 1991.
