Aliases Russel Lieblich

Russell Lieblich was an American composer and sound designer. Russell attended UC San Diego and earned a Master's Degree in music. He started working on composing and programming Intellivision games. When the Commodore 64 came out later, he stopped working on Intellivision and started composing and programming on the Commodore 64. He would later compose for the Amiga, Nintendo Entertainment System, and other various game consoles. While Russell was not a popular composer, the music that he composed is very memorable and nostalgic to the people who have played it.

Unfortunately on January 26 of 2005, Lieblich suffered a heart attack and died outside his home in New York. His music is still remembered to this day.

Music Development

Commodore 64

Like most other composers, Russell had to program his own sound engine and write the music in assembly directly on the Commodore 64 itself.

NES

Russell created MIDI files for Stealth ATF which were then converted to Glyn Anderson's sound driver, but it is unknown what music software he used to make the MIDI files. He coded the sound driver to Roundball 2-on-2 Challenge.

SNES

Russell used the Visual Concepts sound engine which was created by Jason Andersen and John Schappert. It is unknown how he created the music though.
