Platform: DOS
Year: 1991
Developer: Titus Interactive

Prehistorik is a platform game developed by Titus Interactive and released in 1991.

You control a neanderthal who must march through hostile pre-historic environments seeking food and keeping himself safe. Some food can be found in caves, but it mainly exists in living animal forms.

These include fire-breathing Pyro-Tax dragons, the Turtosaurus, and the Bad Bat. Each of these must be clubbed to death, some taking up to 5 hits, and then walked over. Some other enemies are indestructible, with the monkeys who throw coconuts at you particularly fiendish.

You will have to complete the level within the time limit, and avoid contact with these foes. However, bombs and improved weapons can be collected, as can extra lives, time bonuses and an improved jump.

(Info)

Music and sounds are stored in the *.cur files. The music is in the MDI format, compressed with LZSS algorithm, and the sounds are uncompressed in VOC format. There are two versions of the soundtrack, one with multiple channels and instruments, and one (with files ending on -buz) with just one channel and instrument, for playing on the PC Speaker.

Since music format is not designed to be played on MIDI devices like Roland MT-32, the game has hardcoded MT-32 instrument values for every channel of each music file.
