This page is for the Mega Man II (NES) song, for more titles see Opening or Title.

Opening and Title is played at the beginning of the game, right after the initial copyright screen. Opening is played as the story is told and the camera pans up the building, and Title plays when you see Rock at the top. In order to form continuity between the first Mega Man and the sequel, the Opening song is based on the beginning half of the Ending song of the first game, composed by Manami Matsumae. The rearrangement, as well as the Title half of this song, is the work of Takashi Tateishi.

While the tune plays seamlessly when in the introduction, it is actually two separate tracks internally to the game (NSF tracks 1 and 2). The song is also broken into two tracks on the official soundtrack album. Rather than match the soundtrack, the VGMPF tries to maintain a sound identical to the game, so the two tracks have been combined with timing to mirror the original.
