Music
This soundtrack made Rob Hubbard famous. The previous months, he had programmed his own sound driver and produced three C64 game soundtracks (the third one also for Gremlin), all of which were highly rated in Britain's major C64 games magazine, ZZAP! 64, yet Rob Hubbard himself remained completely uncredited.
For Monty on the Run, Hubbard added pitch bends to his driver and arranged songs as usual: by typing hexadecimal numbers into Mikro Assembler. While most video game tunes at the time lasted about 30 seconds to a minute, Hubbard went above and beyond and composed a 5-minute in-game tune. The game can be beaten in around 12 minutes, so it doesn't really get annoying. ZZAP! rated the overall game 90% and sound 99%, and appended an exclusive interview to their review, which Hubbard credits for getting lots of work. In 2000, HVSC and SID fans voted the rip 9th favorite top SID.
Recording
Due to a bug in Hubbard's driver, the first bass note after loading is muted. This has been skipped in rip and recording. The music was recorded in DeliPlayer for Windows.

Game Rip
Ripping Commodore 64 music is an arduous process that is beyond the scope of this site.
Audio Devices
This game uses the computer's built-in SID chip and sounds the same on every one of them (except for one sound effect because it uses a combined wave). An official NTSC release is not known.
