NES

Matt said this about writing for the NES:

NES had a developer kit that allowed for some basic sound synthesis with which I used to create some "instruments" and SFX. I also used an Amiga to create a few small samples (4-8Khz sampling rate, maybe 8-bit). I would hand over these samples, midi (.mid) files (also created and output from Amiga) and the synthesis settings to the developer team who would integrate it into code. As I recall, I had less than 64k of ROM in which all this needed to reside, so you can imagine that most of that was .mid files.

SNES

Matt most likely wrote MIDI files on a MIDI sequencer, which were then converted to Accolade's sound driver.

For Bubsy, Mike Cihak and Matt Scott of Byte Size Sound converted his music to Chip Level Designs sound driver.

GEN

Although Matt never composed any soundtracks for the system, his compositions for the first Bubsy game were converted by Rudy Helm to his own driver.
