Masaharu Iwata (NES Driver)
Masaharu Iwata is an unofficial name of the NES sound driver that Masaharu Iwata programmed and used throughout his NES music career.
To create music and sound effects, Masaharu would have to painstakingly write the music in 6502 assembly language.
The first game that appears to use the driver was the NES Fantasy Zone (not to be confused with the Famicom version from Sunsoft.) However, it is suspected games such as Relics (FDS), Daisenryaku, X-Men, and Topple Zip (FDS) also use the driver. The last game to use the driver is Kerropi to Keroriinu no Splash Bomb!. It was only used in Japanese and North American games.
The driver outputs to the RP2A03. It uses the triangle channel for drums. The DPCM channel is not used.
