Marshall Parker was born on August 20, 1952. While he was still young, he played in bands with former Beam Software musician Gavan Anderson. When Gavan couldn't do the work by himself anymore, he had Tania Smith work on music, but when she was touring with a band as a keyboardist, she was forced to leave Beam Software. She asked Marshall if he would like to start working on music for games and Marshall started his work at Beam in November 1990. His first work on a video game was Back to the Future II & III on NES with Tania, but his first solo project on a video game was for the NES Star Wars game. Marshall Parker's video game music got popular when he composed the music to Shadowrun on the SNES, though he has worked on other memorable titles, such as Nightshade for the NES.

Marshall currently lives in Singapore and is now the Audio Director of Beam Software (now known as Krome Studios) and his son Gavin Parker (Probably named after Gavan Anderson) composes for Beam Software.

Music Composition

NES

Marshall used hex code for his NES music using Beam Software's music driver.

SNES

The music was sequenced. The instrument samples were taken from Roland's MIDI devices such as the MC500, D550, S550 and MV30.
