New World Computing's Music (M) format (the name is a guess) was used in their Clouds of Xeen (DOS) and Dark Side of Xeen (DOS) games. They contain interwoven MIDI and FM synth commands for complete compatibility between cards with support for FM (such as Adlib and Sound Blaster) and MIDI (such as Roland MT-32 and Wave Blaster). The inclusion of sound effects into the music yields undesired results when using hardware that doesn't synthesize sound effects very well. This can be heard with devices like the Roland MT-32.

Currently, there are no players that support this format.
