The Ken Silverman Music (KSM) format was created by Ken Silverman to house the AdLib music he composed for his games. The music was only used in two games, Kentris (DOS) and Ken's Labyrinth (DOS). The tracks are dependent upon an Insts.dat file which contains the specific instrument definitions. The two players that support the KSM format expect the Insts.dat file to be found in the same folder as the KSM files.
Ken Silverman's Winamp Plugin was incorporated into AdPlug, but neither of the Winamp plugins feature perfect emulation of the KSM format; some tracks don't properly play back some of the music in select files. However, updated files exist for all of the rips and recordings that will sound proper, thanks to patches made by Ken Silverman.
It also can be played with PC Speaker or General MIDI, but there are no players of this format with emulation of these devices.
