Kōichi Ishibashi is a Japanese composer and sound designer, known for his work at Athena. During his time there, he not only composed music and sound effects, but also programmed the sound engines for the platforms the company developed for; primarily arcade, NES, and SNES games. At Athena, he usually worked alongside Shotaro Sasaki. However, Sasaki was primarily credited for music and Ishibashi for effects and programming.

In 1995, Ishibashi, Sasaki, and other members who had previously worked on Daioh (ARC) formed Warashi, and the two became directors for the company.

Audio Development

SNES

Ishibashi programmed a custom sound driver for the SNES, not based on Kankichi-kun.
