The Hudson Entertainment Sound format is similar to NSF in that it stores machine code ripped from TurboGrafx-16 game ROMs. Takashi Mamiya created the format in 1999. Playback requires the emulation of several TurboGrafx-16 components including the main CPU and the audio chip.

How to Obtain

Ripping HES files requires an intimate knowledge of the HuC6280 processor and APU, but luckily, most TurboGrafx-16 games already have their sound ripped to HES format and can be downloaded from the following sites:
