Wolfenstein 3D (DOS)
Wolfenstein 3D (DOS) | ||||||||
|
Get Them Before They Get You is usually the first level music that players of Wolfenstein 3D (DOS) heard back when it was released because it is played in the first mission of the first episode. It can also be heard in E1M5, E4M1, and E4M5.
The quality of the music had to be downgraded from MIDI to IMF for the DOS release. The song is the 4th music file in the AudioT.WL6 data file and the title comes from the IMF meta data where it is simply "GETTHEM", the game sound test mentions it as "Get Them!". Some out-dated web sites still list the track as "Get Them".
Spear of Destiny (DOS)
Spear of Destiny (DOS) | ||||||||
|
Get Them Before They Get You plays in level 12 in Spear of Destiny (DOS).
Like the DOS release, the quality of the music had to be downgraded from MIDI to IMF for Spear of Destiny. It is also the 4th song in the AudioT.SOD file, and its meta data title is "GETTHEM". This song is not included in the demo release of Spear of Destiny.
Wolfenstein 3D (SNES)
Wolfenstein 3D (SNES) | ||||||||
|
Due to the limitations of the Super Nintendo hardware, S-SMP, Wolfenstein 3D utilized an advanced form of video game music playback called DSP Streaming. As a result, this track cannot be dumped into SPC format. However an alternative SNSF has been made which allows music such as this to be captured accurately in emulated format. The SNES runs the music a bit faster than the DOS version.
Wolfenstein 3D (JAG)
Wolfenstein 3D (JAG) | ||||||||
|
Like in DOS version, it first plays on E1M1. It plays slighty faster than in the original DOS version.
The song's internal name is "0GETTHEF".
Wolfenstein 3D (GBA)
Wolfenstein 3D (GBA) | ||||||||
|
Like the rest of music in GBA release, this song doesn't appear in-game and is only presented in ROM of this game. Despite the usage of superior sound generator, this is of lower fidelity, and using the samples instead of OPL2 instuments increase it a little. Interestingly, that the result is mostly based on the MIDI playback, not AdLib.

The Atari ST version, unlike the others, plays when you are changing the difficulty level, not in level (most probably because the Atari ST hardware wasn't powerful enought to render level, SFX and music together). Rendered on YM2149 chip instead of original YM3812, even being downgraded it sounds quite accurately. Track's speed is slighty faster than original.
Its name in rip is simply "Get Them.sndh".
Voxelstein 3D (W32)
Voxelstein 3D (W32) | ||||||

Voxelstein 3D version is absolutely the same with DOS, because game use files of the shareware DOS release. This song never plays in-game, so it wasn't included in the soundtrack infobox. Metadata name is "GETTHEM".
Wolfenstein 3D (A8)

The Atari 800 version is a little different. It's the only version that adds new bars to the original DOS track. Despite the inferior quality of POKEY chip, it's still listenable.
This song was added to the version 1.5 to play on the first and only level in the game, but it was replaced with Evil Incarnate in 2.0 for reasons unknown. It's unknown if this track still in the ROM; the recording came from the video playback of the game.
Wolfenstein 3D (WEB)
Wolfenstein 3D (WEB) | ||||||||

This version plays on E1M1 and E1M5 as it was in original release. The only difference is the usage of recorded MIDI music compared to the usage of the downgraded AdLib audio in the original game.
Wolfram (W32)
Wolfram (W32) | ||||||||
|
This song plays on the original DOS' places in Episode 1 as usual. The difference is the use of recorded to OGG AdLib music - the sounding differs a little, but it's almost insensibly.
Wolfenstein: The New Order (W64)
Wolfenstein: The New Order (W64) | ||||||
|
This version plays during the "Nightmare" secret level while sleeping on the Resistance base. The sounding is almost identical to the WEB version of Wolfenstein 3D.
Wolfenstein 3D (GEN)
Wolfenstein 3D (GEN) | ||||||||
|
Sega Genesis version sounds like DOS, but rendered on the YM2612 sound chip, which has somewhat inferior quality over the DOS version's YM3812. However, it's almost insensibly.
Other Ports
- The Android, Dreamcast, CD32, Amiga, Windows 32, Windows Phone versions of Wolfenstein 3D actually emulate the DOS soundtrack (so we didn't bother to include them) or have it, but don't play. The same goes with Spear of Destiny and its mission packs.
- Wolfenstein: The Old Blood (W64) probably has it, but it's not verified.
- Macintosh, 3DO, Acorn versions don't have this song.
- PC-98 and Apple IIgs don't have music.
- It's unknown if other ports such as the 32X have music.
