Freescape games are the games in mixed genre (mostly betweed the FPS and adventure), produced with Freescape engine from 1987 to 1992.
The Freescape engine is one of the first fully-3D engines (and it was multiplatform - it was released for 8 platforms). Musch better then rudimentary pseudo-3D of Wolfenstein 3D Engine, Doom Engine, etc., but wasn't aged well and the walls cannot be shaded. Also it was proprietary (contrary to the idSoftware negines that are free) and didn't supports VGA for DOS platform, making it absolete even for 1992 year.
