Aliases Toasty

Dan "Toasty" Forden is an American composer and sound designer. He has composed the music to several Midway Games titles including Mortal Kombat, Super High Impact, and Arch Rivals. He has worked for many game companies, including Midway, Williams and Sculptured Software. Dan has been in the industry for over 15 years.

He started his video game music career in October 1988 when he worked for Williams. There, he composed the music to a great deal of their pinball games. He left 5 years later. He then founded Toasty Productions, where he was a freelance composer, and it ended nine years later. In October 2002, he started working for Midway and left in 2009. He currently works for Warner Bros. as a sound designer and Tribeca Flashpoint Media Arts Academy as an Adjunct Professor of Game Audio.

He is also known as the "Toasty!" guy in the Mortal Kombat games. According to Dan, this was because when he and co-workers played Super High Impact, he would say, "I predict toast!" (IE I predict you're going to lose!). Later, the quote turned into, "I predict toasty!". During the development of Mortal Kombat, one of the game designers suggested that Dan use it in the game.
