Commander Keen V: The Armageddon Machine
250x400px
Platform: DOS
Year: 1991
Developer: id Software
For other games in the series see Commander Keen.

Commander Keen V: The Armageddon Machine takes off where Commander Keen IV ended as it is the second and final episode of Goodbye, Galaxy!. You have traveled to the Shikadi's Omegamatic space station. You must fight your way past the robots and Shikadi soldiers in order to bust up their ship to stop it from destroying the galaxy.

The controls are the same as the previous Commander Keen. You can run, jump, pogo, climb, and shoot. You collect gems to open closed off areas, flip switches to activate platforms, and use keycards to open airlocks. This game is a bit more difficult than Commander Keen IV, but still a whole lot of fun.

Music

There is a bit more music in this episode than in the previous one. The music is still playful and fun, although there are a few darker tracks to fit with the more complex levels. Just like the previous game, anyone who has played Keen 5 for any length of time will remember the catchy music and hum along. Bobby Prince wrote the music from ground up for the Sound Blaster FM synthesizer since the availability of true wave table synthesizers was uncommon at the time. He used Sequencer Plus Gold for the composing itself.

A couple of upgraded higher-quality MIDI files were made available on Bobby Prince's website and are included in the rip download.

The titles come directly from Bobby Prince himself. For the unreleased tracks, the titles come from the file names of an archive supplied by John Romero.
