Chrono Trigger (Japan: クロノ・トリガー Chrono Trigger) is a fantasy role-playing action hybrid. It uses all of the normal RPG tropes, you increase in levels, hit points, and magic, but the game also focuses a lot on the movement and control of the characters. You can maneuver around obstacles and enemies to avoid battles.
As for the story, you lead Crono and his ramshackle band on a misguided journey through time when you find that there are very dangerous events in the near future that could bring about the end of all things. As you travel through time you must be careful not to cause paradoxes in the future and ruin the time that you live in.

Music
The game receives heavy praise both as one of the best games and soundtracks of the 16-bit era thanks mostly to the work of Yasunori Mitsuda and several additional tracks by Nobuo Uematsu. There are haunting melodies, powerful fanfares, and exciting combat music.
Much like other Squaresoft games of the time, a lot of the tracks have the first loop through played at a higher volume than the subsequent loops.
Several soundtracks were released for Chrono Trigger, the VGMPF uses the titles from the most recent version, the Nintendo DS release which has the official English translation.
