Charles Deenen began programming computers in 1983 on a Commodore PET. Around 1985 he wrote a C64 sound-driver, which gave him the tools necessary to form an audio company with Jeroen Tel called Maniacs of Noise. Deenen taught Jeroen how to write music on the NES. In 1991, he moved to the USA and started working for Interplay Entertainment as their audio director. Deenen worked briefly for Shiny / Atari in 2002. In 2003, Deenen moved to Canada to work as the senior audio director for Electronic Arts.

Charles programmed a sound driver and wrote the music on the NES in 6502 assembly code, using a monitor on the NES. M.C. Kids was the only game to use his sound driver.
