Catacomb 3-D (also known as Catacomb 3-D: A New Dimension, Catacomb 3-D: The Descent, and Catacombs 3) is one of the earliest first-person shooters ever made. You play the role of a mage who must descend into the catacombs to find and vanquish an evil lich. You will have to battle with orcs, trolls, and many other monsters in this labyrinth, so find powerful spells to help you defeat your enemies. This is the game that paved the way to the very popular Wolfenstein 3D (DOS) engine.
Note: All three additional games of the games in the sequel trilogy use the same music as Catacomb 3-D.
- The Catacomb Abyss
- Catacomb Armageddon AKA Curse of the Catacombs
- Catacomb Apocalypse AKA Terror of the Catacombs

Music
Catacomb 3-D contains only a music track that is replayed over and over again through the entire song. Fans of Commander Keen IV will recognize the track Too Hot, composed by Bobby Prince.
The song was written in Sequencer Plus Gold and then converted to IMF to play on an AdLib board. The original full-length MIDI version of Too Hot can be found in the rip download for Commander Keen IV: Secret of the Oracle (DOS).

The IMF file was extracted from the Huffman compressed Audio.C3D file, using Adam Biser's program, Wolf3D Data Compiler. The IMF music was played with AdPlug 1.7, and recorded with Winamp. Because the track is the same as the one from Commander Keen IV, the same title is used.
