- For other games in the series see Bionic Commando.
Bionic Commando is a platform shooter where you control a soldier who has a bionic grappling-hook for an arm. Since you can't jump, the grappling hook is your only source of vertical movement.
Like most early games, there is little in the way of plot. The game doesn't have a back-story or clear objective. You just shoot all the enemy soldiers and avoid the hazardous environment on your way to the ends of each stage. Each stage ends with a "boss" soldier which is actually one of the weakest enemies in the game. The game only features 5 stages, but like early games, it makes up for begins short by being extremely difficult.
The ZX Spectrum port is made by the same group that made the superior Bionic Commando PAL (C64) port.

Music
Tim Follin based the ZX Spectrum music on the work he did for the PAL version of the Commodore 64 port, however, due to size constraints, several tracks were cut including the loader, ending, and Power Plant tracks. Because of this, stages 4 and 5 use Stop the Missile.

Game Rip
Ripping ZX Spectrum music is a very arduous process that is beyond the scope of this site. The soundtrack was recorded with NEZ Plug version 0.9.4.8 in Winamp.
