Bio-Hazard Battle is a side scrolling shooting game from Sega. The story is basically you are scouting the earth to find new places that the humans can start a new colony to live on after it became overrun with biological monstrosities created after the Biological War. The whole game is filled with creatures, and even your Bioship looks like a creature (despite the boxart). It's as if you are fighting the worst thing to ever live under a log. So suffice it to say, this game is in stark contrast with most shooters as they are metal and mechanized; this game is very alive and organic.

Bio-Hazard Battle is very similar aesthetically to the game Super Metroid. It's as if the levels are breathing or that you are really caught in the ebb and flow of the game. It truly is an organic experience.

Music

The music in Bio-Hazard Battle is characterized by a predominate throbbing bassline. It could be said that its the defining feature of the soundtrack. There are only 8 songs, and 8 levels (some levels share music), but it is without a doubt an exquisite soundtrack. To compliment the truly organic visuals the music is fittingly organic. At times the bassline seems as if it is the pulse of some monster, or at times it can seem to be mimicking the frenzy of a swarm of bees, but in every case the music is certainly fitting. It can be paralleled with Super Metroid in more than one way, the atmosphere (music included) can make the game feel very lonely or deserted.
