Game Home Alone (NES)

Basement is the song that plays when the player (Kevin McAllister) is in the basement in Home Alone (NES).

George Sanger wrote the song on Sonix for the Amiga. The music file was then converted to Randy Linden's sound driver.

Composition

The song is written in the key of C minor, and starts out with the following chord structure; Cm Bb Ab Gm G. The song starts out with the pizzicato-like instrument, while the triangle channel (bass) accompanies on bass. On the loop (0:12), the lead instrument (horns?) comes in and plays a solo. The chord progression here is similar; Cm Bb Ab, then Bb. Here (0:21), the horn-like instrument continues, but with the pizzicato instrument playing a few notes with the Cm and Db chords. Then, the pizzicato instrument on both square channels descents on the C minor chord and then the horn-like instrument plays a couple high notes.

The song is in the 4/4 time signature and plays at 150 BPM.
