An Ad Lib Instrument Bank (BNK) format was created by Ad Lib, Inc. to upgrade from INS format, and it was firstly introduced with AdLib Visual Composer version 1.5 in January 1989.

The file doesn't store music, but it does contain the definitions for instruments to be played in ROL, SNG and SX files. Since this format isn't actually an audio format, the list of players don't actually "play" BNK files, but rather utilize them when playing a ROL file.

Also this format used by Human Machine Interfaces sound engine for music instruments in HMP and HMI files.
