Astérix & Obélix is a platform game where one player can choose to control either Asterix or Obelix or two players can play simultaneously. The mission of the two Gauls is to acquire artifacts from all across Europe. The game, like the comics, is set around 50 BC. It includes some bonus levels like a rugby match and the Olympic Games in Greece.

The original story from the game:

The year is 50 BC. Gaul is entirely occupied by the romans. Well, not entirely. One small village of indomitable gauls still holds out against the invaders. To keep them prisoner Caesar has had an immense palisade build around the village. Astérix and Obélix decide to prove to Caesar that they can go wherever they please. They will traver the Roman empire and bring a souvenir back from every country they cross.
