Strife is a first-person shooter that merges Medieval setting with sci-fi technology. It uses a hub system instead of a linear set of levels. There are some more adventure elements in the game as well, like the ability to talk to NPCs, buy goods, and use items. In the game, an alien race has invaded an Medieval society causing a terrible plague. Some of the plague's survivors had their minds taken over by the alien race and formed The Order. While there are rebels trying to stop them, The Order is pretty much taking over the land and slowly exterminating the humans. You are a member of the rebels and it is up to you to find the aliens and destroy them. Although the game is pretty good, it didn't sell very well because it was still using the Doom (DOS) engine just as Quake (DOS) was being released.

Strife's music consists of a lot of ambiance and mood music, but when combat abounds, it becomes much more punchy. The music changes depending on your area rather than staying the same through the whole level. Some of the tracks can be downright annoying though.

Some of the songs do not have two loops because they're so long.

The music for Strife is located in the Strife1.Wad file and since the game is based off of the Doom engine, it uses id's MUS format. The music was ripped with Csabo's eXtendable Wad Editor and recorded using Winamp's MIDI plugin v3.5. The track titles are extrapolated from their names in the Wad and the order comes from the section order in the game.
