Streets of Rage (GEN)
|Streets of Rage|
- For other games in the series see Streets of Rage.
After Capcom had success with Final Fight, Sega decided to jump on the beat-em-up bandwagon with Streets of Rage. The similarities are shameless; the graphics and animation are drawn in the same style, and the plot is nearly identical, but the quality isn't on par because the SNES had more horsepower. Because it's made to mimic Final Fight, it's fun in the same ways that Final Fight is fun, but it also suffers the same drawbacks of Final Fight. You'll eventually get bored of beating up yet another street punk by the end of the game.

The first game in the Streets of Rage series has a very nice soundtrack. The long tracks have a almost Caribbean quality to them. Yuzo Koshiro said he was listening to artists like Soul II Soul, Black Box, Maxi Priest, and Caron Wheeler around the time of composing the music, which no doubt influenced his style.
The track titles come from the soundtrack, however it seems that there are three songs on the soundtrack that are missing from the rip, "Up & Up", "The Super Threc", and "Name Entry".
Takayuki Nakamura said he programmed the sound.
