Spear of Destiny (DOS)
|Spear of Destiny|
Spear of Destiny is a prequel of Wolfenstein and was marketed as a Wolfenstein Adventure. The game used the same 3D engine and many of the same graphics and music as its predecessor, but added a small amount of new art and music. However, the additions are quite small, and it mostly feels like an add-on rather than a whole new game.
According to the story, Hitler has stolen the legendary "Spear of Destiny" in order to add power to the Nazi regime. You have to break into the Nazi fortress and bust them up a bit to get the spear back in order to prevent them from becoming unstoppable.
The music is very similar in style to that of Wolfenstein 3D (DOS), in fact, much of it is carried over from the the first game. The new music was composed by the same artist, Bobby Prince, and it follows the same foreboding vein as the previous game.
The music was composed in Sequencer Plus Gold, and then Prince had to downgrade his music to sound proper on the OPL2. Prince never kept any of his original tracks, but he has since remade a couple of the songs to sound like how he originally intended. These remakes can be found in the rip.

The IMF files were ripped from the AudioHed.SOD and AudioT.SOD files using DarkOne's Wolfenstein music ripper. They were given the extension WLF instead of IMF in order to be played back at the proper speed. They were recorded using AdPlug 1.6 in Winamp.
The order of the music files is based on their order of play in the game. This differs from the order they appear in the game files. The song titles come from various sources including, Bobby Prince's released MIDIs, extrapolated meta tags, or popular online names. The originals were included in the game.
A VGM log has also been made of the soundtrack.
If the music is opened with ChaosEdit, the files can be played back properly on a Windows XP+ machine.
