Paul Butler is a game designer, sound designer, music composer and co-founder of Artech with Rick Banks.

In the late 1970s, Butler and Banks studied Computer and Electronic Music at Carleton University. Butler pursued a career in the music business. Afterwards, he earned degrees in Computer Science from Algonquin College and Philosophy, again from Carleton.

As of 2010, Butler's hobbies are guitars, hockey sticks and telescopes.
