|Ken Silverman's Music|
|First Game:||Kentris (DOS)|
The Ken Silverman Music (KSM) format was created by Ken Silverman to house the AdLib music he composed for his games. The tracks are dependent upon an Insts.dat file which contains the specific instrument definitions. The two players that support the KSM format expect the Insts.dat file to be found in the same folder as the KSM files.
The format does not store tempo information; instead, most games and players hard-code or default to 240 BPM. The only exception, Kentris, sets it to 273 BPM and speeds up in-game.
Ken Silverman's Winamp Plugin was incorporated into AdPlug, but neither of the Winamp plugins feature perfect emulation of the KSM format; some tracks don't properly play back some of the music in select files. However, updated files exist for all of the rips and recordings that will sound proper, thanks to patches made by Ken Silverman.

How to Obtain
KSM files must be extracted from the files of the games that use the format. Thankfully, all games that use the format have already been ripped and can be downloaded from their respective game page.
