Category:Non-Videogame Songs
From Video Game Music Preservation Foundation Wiki
Songs in this category were not originally composed for video games, but ended up being used in video games. Many of these songs were used because they are in the public domain while others are licensed movie or television themes.
It was common for the earliest video games in the 1970-80s to use copyrighted songs without retaining rights. This infringement was often overlooked due to the more lax copyright enforcement of the time, and since the music was usually brief excerpts at low fidelity.
