Burn the Wind is a song from the Life Force / Salamander games. It was composed by Miki Higashino and first heard in the original arcade release of the game. The title comes from the Salamander ~Again~ album.
Games
- Note: Planet Ratis was not included in the deluxe arcade release or ZX Spectrum port. The Amstrad CPC port has not been verified.
Life Force (ARC)
The original arcade game features Miki Higashino's composition rendered on the YM2151, VLM5030, and K007232 audio chips. Burn the Wind plays in stage 5. It is not known who arranged Higashino's music for the game.
This track was replace in the deluxe arcade version with Combat.
Life Force (NES)
Burn the Wind was arranged by Shinya Sakamoto, Satoe Terashima, and Hidenori Maezawa. Atsushi Fujio most likely wrote the sound code for the port. The NES doesn't have the same stage 5 as the arcade game, so the music was moved to play in "Cell Stage 2", which is the 4th stage.
Salamander (MSX)
Although stage 5 is quite different in the MSX port, the music is the same, just rearranged for the MSX audio chip.
Salamander (X68)
The music for the Sharp X68000 port was rearranged for the YM2151 and the OKI MSM6258V. It plays in stage 5, just like the arcade game.
Salamander (TG16)
The rearrangement of Burn the Wind to the HuC6280 chip in the TG-16 was made by H. Muraoka. It also plays in stage 5.
