beatmania IIDX is a series of arcade rhythm games developed by Konami. It is the successor to the beatmania series, and part of the more extensive line of Bemani games, all of which are also developed by Konami. Gameplay is simple: hit colored markers that correspond to the seven buttons of the controller and the turntable as they approach a red judgment line. While it is simple enough to understand, it is well known for its brutal difficulty at a high playing level, and sharp learning curve throughout.

  • GAMBOL from beatmania IIDX (ARC) - Incredibly notorious for a timing bug on all of its charts that made it nigh impossible to get a good score on the song all the way up until beatmania IIDX 12 HAPPY SKY (ARC) for the Single NORMAL chart and beatmania IIDX 19 Lincle (ARC) for the Single HYPER chart. The frustration this caused culminated in a Single ANOTHER chart released on beatmania IIDX 11 IIDX RED (PS2), where even being able to hit the notes was a challenge.
  • THE SAFARI from beatmania IIDX 3rd style (ARC) - While it doesn't have a Single ANOTHER chart, the Single HYPER chart is noteable for being the FINAL STAGE of the Singles 7dan course ever since the Dani'nintei mode was introduced in beatmania IIDX 7th style (ARC), despite the fact that the difficulty of the rest of the 7dan course is much lower than THE SAFARI [h]. The chart is so difficult as a 7dan song that many players skip 7dan and clear 8dan first, with people doing this being referred to as "Safari Refugees" by other players. This song's status as 7dan is referenced in the REFLEC BEAT series' Dani'nintei mode as well, with the FINAL ROUND of the REFLEC 7dan course being THE SAFARI -DJ TOTTO mix-.
  • V from beatmania IIDX 5th style (ARC) - A remix of The First Movement of Winter from The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi. Its Single ANOTHER chart is the first chart released chronologically to end up as a Level 12 chart when the current chart rating system was implemented in beatmania IIDX 12 HAPPY SKY (ARC), and had the highest note count of any song up until the release of AA in beatmania IIDX 11 IIDX RED (ARC).
  • Kakumei from beatmania IIDX 7th style (ARC) and DDRMAX2 -DanceDanceRevolution 7thMIX- (ARC) - A collaboration between IIDX and DDR's most prolific composers at the time, Kakumei is a remix of The Revolutionary Étude by Frédéric Chopin and is the "One More Extra Stage" song for both of the games it appears in, which were both also released on the same day.
  • quasar from beatmania IIDX 9th style (ARC) - The "One More Extra Stage" for 9th style, it is notable for being one of the hardest songs to this day for Doubles players, with its Doubles ANOTHER chart serving as the FINAL STAGE for the Doubles Kaiden course in the Dani'nintei mode.
  • Mei from beatmania IIDX 12 HAPPY SKY (ARC) - Considered one of the hardest songs in the series ever since its release, with its Singles and Doubles ANOTHER charts also being the first charts in the series to pass a note count of 2000. It took players two years to get a max grade of AAA on the SPA chart, and eight years for the chart to be full combo'd on an arcade machine. It also is the FINAL STAGE in the Singles Kaiden course of the game in the Dani'nintei mode, the highest level course that one can play. Its use in the Singles Kaiden course has led the piano section at the end to be called the "Winning Run" by fans.
  • MENDES from beatmania IIDX 15 DJ TROOPERS (ARC) - While not currently playable on the arcade releases, the Black ANOTHER chart for this song featured in beatmania IIDX 16 EMPRESS + PREMIUM BEST (PS2) has the highest note count for a non-long version chart in the game, with a whopping count of 2626. This is over 200 notes higher than the second highest note count in the game, a count held by Verflucht's LEGGENDARIA chart.
  • Himiko from beatmania IIDX 16 EMPRESS (ARC) - A collaboration of two of the CARDINAL GATE aliases from beatmania IIDX 13 DistorteD (ARC), Himiko has one of the most brutal Single ANOTHER charts in the series, employing many different gimmicks used to make charts more difficult. As such, the song has remained the 3rd STAGE of the Singles Kaiden course in the Dani'nintei mode, solidifying its status as one of the hardest songs in the game.
  • Almagest from beatmania IIDX 17 SIRIUS (ARC) - Being the "One More Extra Stage" in the first game to introduce Charge Notes to the series, this song is known for its rather difficult Charge Note section towards the end. While it isn't even close to featuring the most Charge Notes out of any chart, the overall difficulty of the song in addition to its use of Charge Notes has made it iconic for its difficulty regardless.
  • Shakunetsu Beach Side Bunny from beatmania IIDX 18 Resort Anthem (ARC) - The "One More Extra Stage" of Resort Anthem, all charts are known for the copious amounts of turntable scratches that one must perform when compared to other songs of similar levels. The Single ANOTHER chart features the more scratches than any other chart in the game: 667. It has since been crossovered to four other BEMANI series.
  • Verflucht from beatmania IIDX 21 SPADA (ARC) - One of the songs featured in the LEGGENDARIA extra stage system, Verflucht was initially released with a rather average Single ANOTHER chart for a boss song. However, with the release of its special LEGGENDARIA chart in beatmania IIDX 22 PENDUAL (ARC), Verflucht now holds the record for the most amount of notes in a chart playable on an arcade machine, at 2401 notes, with enough note density to make it one of the hardest charts in the game.
