There's a nice big update today. One of my favorite SNES soundtracks is now online, so download and enjoy the score of Tetris Attack. The game itself is timeless and addictive, whether you're playing against the computer or your best friend. The varied music will alter your mood for each stage, and the danger music will grate on your nerves like no other. Three new composers have been added from the game: the main composer Masaya Kuzume, the assistant composer Yuka Tsujiyoko, and the sound effects and audio system programmer Kenichi Nishimaki. Also, a page has also been added for audio programmer Jim Dosé and Mark Van Hecke's page has been updated with several new games added to his credit. |

The VGMPF's first Nintendo 64 soundtrack is now available for download. Get it and enjoy the wonderful music of Super Mario 64. This was Nintendo's first big title for the N64, and they did a great job with it. Likewise, the game's composer, Koji Kondo really outdid himself with the beautiful and thematic music for Super Mario 64. The page is quite complete with the game rip, the recorded soundtrack, and several albums that have the game's music on them. Also, sine we have a new platform, we also have a new music format. N64 music is stored in USF which can be played with the 64th Note plugin. Also, box art has been added to the archive pages. |

The heavy metal soundtrack from the Macintosh port of Wolfenstein 3D is now available for you to download. It's amazing what two years of progress and a platform that included high-quality audio hardware can do to a game's soundtrack. The Mac music, composed by Brian Luzietti, has a much higher quality sound. Unfortunately, there are fewer tracks, and the metal doesn't exactly mesh with a World War II theme. Even still, it's worth the download if you're a fan of the game. |

The latest soundtrack comes from the NES port of the arcade classic, Trojan. Want to relive extreme frustration? Want to remember smashing your controller down and cussing out your Nintendo? Well, just listen to a few of these tracks and you'll rekindle those painful memories of the early NES games that were freaking impossible. Trojan's music is a link between the days when Capcom had crappy music like 1942, to the days when they ruled the sound waves with Mega Man II. |

Most of you probably never got a chance to play the 8-bit SonSon since it never made it to North America, however older guests may have played it in the arcades back in the mid 1980s. I've added the soundtrack from David Crane's classic Atari 2600 game, Pitfall!. Although the soundtrack consists of only a few fanfares, they're well known, since they were mostly stolen from other sources. The vine swing fanfare comes from Johnny Weissmuller's Tarzan yell, and the death fanfare comes from Miklós Rózsa's theme he created for the movie The Killers, which was later used in Dragnet. |

The first Atari 2600 game has been added to the VGMPF. The game is Frogger, and the music is the short introduction ditty played at the beginning of the game. It may not be very impressive, but it'll usher up fond memories to the retro crowd. Unlike most later game systems, there isn't a community based on ripping music from the Atari 2600--so the rip of the music isn't available. Thus, the music was recorded while the game was playing. Hopefully, in the future, a group will take the Atari 2600 under its wing and begin ripping the audio. |

Despite the game being annoyingly tedious, it did have really great music, which is now cataloged here for you enjoyment. Enjoy the 8 bit electric guitar all over again. I spent a lot of time trying to research the music's composer. Several sites claim Keizo Nakamura (who composed all the later TMNT music, but I've yet to see any official proof of this and the game itself lacks credits.

With the upcoming release of the Bionic Commando remake, Bionic Commando: Rearmed, Capcom decided to release the original Bionic Commando soundtrack as a professionally produced album. You can pick up a digital copy for only $2.99 at sumthingdigital.com. Also, be sure to download the liner notes from the official Bionic Commando Web site, which contain quotes from fans of the games, including me! The Rearmed soundtrack is up there as well, if you're interested.
A great deal of gratitude must also be given to Gearoid Reidy, of Capcom, who was able to uncover several uncredited or unknown composers of several early Capcom games. He generously gave his time to uncover the original musicians so that they could finally be given their rightful credit. Some of them have just been updated, others will be added as new soundtracks become available. |
